Dogs are trained using positive reinforcement techniques, where they receive rewards for successfully identifying target odors. The training involves scent discrimination and exposure to different environments to enhance their detection abilities. Regular practice is necessary to maintain their skills.
Note: focus will be on AKC Scent packages. If other scents are required, additional charges may apply.
Tracking
Tracking is the process of training dogs to follow a specific scent trail left by a person or object. This type of training is commonly used in law enforcement, search and rescue operations, and hunting. Dogs are taught to use their keen sense of smell to identify and follow the scent, indicating the direction and path taken by the individual.
Tracking training involves gradual exposure to various terrains and scent scenarios, using positive reinforcement to reward dogs for successfully locating the trail. Handlers work closely with the dogs to interpret their movements and signals, making canine tracking an effective tool for locating missing persons or apprehending suspects.
